Tropical Storm Phanfone (named as Ursula by PAGASA) formed in Western Pacific and it’s currently located about 340 miles east of Tacloban City, Philippines. The storm is currently moving northwest over open water at 18 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. On the forecast track, the system is expected to potentially make a landfall as a strong Tropical Storm over Eastern Samar, eastern Philippines late Dec 24. After making landfall the system is expected to move fast over the central Philippines while maintaining its strength and potentially exiting the region late Dec 26. Flight delays and cancellations are possible, particularly on domestic routes and at regional airports located on path of the storm.
