As of Jan 24, the Chinese authorities have placed Wuhan, Ezhou, Huanggang, Chibi, Xiantao, Zhijiang, Qianjiang, Huangshi, Xianning and Yichang under lock down as a precaution to prevent the further spread of 2019 Novel Coronavirus. All public bus and railway transport will be suspended in these cities until further notice.
Authorities have closed Wuhan airport (WUH) until further notice. Increased health screening has also been introduced at airports in other countries, including Australia, Thailand and the US to stop the spread of the virus.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued advice for international travelers to practice usual health precautions. The organization is also advising against the application of any travel or trade restrictions in China.
Governments are advising travelers to exercise increased caution, and some are advising against all but essential travel to Wuhan. Countries advising against all, but essential travel include the US, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
When planning your trip, we recommend checking government advisories and the CDC to see what precautions you should take.
