Taal Volcano near Manila, Philippines spewed a massive cloud of ash into the sky on Sunday, January 12, resulting in the precautionary evacuation of thousands of residents and the suspension of flights.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced that all flights to and from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) – formerly known and still commonly referred to as Manila International Airport (MNL) – have been temporarily put on hold starting on Sunday following the eruption of Taal Volcano.
